Toxic Chemicals - Unlike other types of bulbs, LED bulbs don’t contain harmful chemicals. Compact Florescent bulbs contain the very toxic mercury gas, a hazard if they are broken, but also they are detrimental to the environment if they make there way into landfill, leaching out and contaminating groundwater.
Carbon Footprint - LED bulbs use far less energy than tradition bulbs and consequently much less fossil fuels are needed to be burned to provide the light that we all use daily.
Recyclable - LED bulbs are made up mostly of aluminum which makes them a recyclable product. This helps to reduce the amount of landfill created, but also, given that they have such a long lifespan, for every LED bulb created as rubbish, as many as 50 incandescent bulbs will be created. |
