Anyone who has worked on a stage or behind/under spot lights will know that the radiant heat from the lighting makes it very uncomfortable. The very fact that you have all these lights on you means that you have an audience and would like to look your best, something that is very hard to achieve when you are sweating due to the heat from lighting. There are only two options to counteract this problem and still provide adequate lighting. These are:
1. You have the air-conditioning turned up very high or
2. You use lights that greatly reduce the radiant heat emitted.
If you turn the air-conditioning up, although the performer/speaker etc will be far more comfortable, the audience will all be shivering and no longer paying attention.
The alternative is to use LED lighting for your stage lighting needs, which greatly reduces the radiant heat to only a fraction of what is produced by more traditional methods. The reason for this is that most traditional bulbs actually consume a majority of the electricity used in operating them creating heat, only a small percentage of the energy used goes into actually producing useable light. LED lights use the latest technology to be far more energy efficient and for only around 10-20% of the energy consumed from a traditional bulb, they can emit equivalent amounts of light.
LED's come in a whole range of colours, from warm/cool white to red, blue, green, yellow …. and so on. Because they actually emit the particular colour you are after they don’t require filters and don’t give off anything but the type of light required.
So if you want to save on energy bills and reduce the amount of heat generated, switch your spotlights to LED's today! |
